3. How did you find out about AllSport?
We found out about AllSport thru Susie/David Tannery. We met them at Memorial Park several years ago in a workout group.

4. Favorite thing about CrossFit?
David – I enjoy there is always something new to learn and new movement to perfect.

Zerika- I love that WOD is never routine and it’s a challenge for the fittest man/woman on earth and scalable for couch potato/foodie in me.

5. Favorite WOD/Least Favorite WOD or Movement?

David- Favorite Movement would have to be front squats/deadlifts and Least Favorite would be handstand pushups

Zerika – Favorite Movement – Deadlift and Slam Balls and Least Favorite WOD – anything with Thrusters or Burpees (BUCK FURPEES)

6. WOD Nemesis, who do you battle or measure yourself against consistently?
The first name that came to mind for us both is SUSIE TANNERY. Not that, I would ever want to do battle with her, but every needs a rabbit to chase right. Overall, we prefer to measure ourselves against ourselves, by keeping track of PR times or lifts.

7. Married how long, kids?, Dating or Single?
We have been married over 5 years. No kiddos yet, still enjoying us 2. J

8. Cats or Dogs?
We have one AMAZING Dog – Jackson AKA Jackpot.  He is a lab/pit mix and we adopted him from a shelter about 4 years ago. We named him Jackson, because he is Black/White…like the Michael Jackson song. LOL….I know its corny.

9. How long have you been at AllSport?

We started out as “punchcard” members since the Box opened, as of 2013 we are full fledge members of the AllSport Family!!

10. What gains have been most impressive to you, weight loss, strength gain etc?

David – The most impressive gain, would be the strength gains. Consistency with CF will increase your strength quickly.

Zerika –My major gain would be first endurance and secondly increased strength.

11. If you were stranded on a desert island and could take only one piece of equipment, what would it be?

Kettlebell! The one weight you can squat, swing, press, Turkish get up etc.  If we had one piece of equipment, we would definitely go with the KB!

12. Strict Zone/Paleo or Mexican and Margaritas Kind of Paleo?

We are by no means Strict Zone or Paleo people – but I wouldn’t go as far to say we were Mexican/Margarita Paleo either. Mostly, we stay away from fried foods, breads and junk. Unless its Saturday or Sunday – then EVERYTHING is fair GAME.

13. How long did it take to get your first Pull-up or Muscle Up? Any tips?

David –  It took me about 4 months with CF to get my first MU! My tip would be FALSE GRIP!!

Zerika – It took me about 1 year to get my first pull-up without a band.  I would suggestion daily practice, even if its not part of the WOD. Try using a smaller band each time, even if you only get one PU…that is still PROGRESS.

14. Class time you regularly attend? Why?

David – No particular time currently. I come to ASCF any time that I have fit in my schedule between School, Work, and Studying…I am in a get it in whenever I can mode for the next 8 months.

Zerika – I am early bird, so I attend the 5:15 am class. Its easier for me to beat the traffic in the morning coming from Katy to get a workout in and allows me to have more free time after work.

15. What movement(s) are you best? Why?
This is an easy one…DEADLIFT!  I think it’s because we are both low to the ground…, but the Mr. says it’s because of strong hamstrings. Take your pick, both sound good to me.

16. What movement(s) are you worst? What are you doing to get better at them?
David – Handstand PU and Overhead Squats. To get better, I have been practicing the progressions for Handstand PUs and for the OH Squats, also practicing with a PVC pipe on the ROM and Mobility has helped too.

Zerika – Consecutive pullups/double unders are still tough for me, but I try to get them in whenever I can. Those are things that only get better with repetition and  practice.
17. Beach and Sand or Snow and Skis?

We are both born/bred TEXANS – so warm weather and beach is always preferred over snow any day.

18. Three times a week or Unlimited?

David – Generally, I prefer to CF 3x per week – but with school, I get it in when I can!

Zerika – 3x a week minimum and usually at least 1 day on the weekend.

19. CrossFit has helped me be a better _____________? You fill in the blank (ex. Dad, Softball Player, Husband, Nurse etc…)

David- CF has helped my speed and quickness both on the job and while playing other recreational sports.

Zerika-  CF has helped me be more creative in the……KITCHEN! Get your minds out of the gutter. Its has broaden my culinary skills to try new things like paleo cookies or spaghetti squash etc.
